In the past they sold their products only to retailers, essentially using a wholesale model for their product. They relied on their channel partners to market, promote and sell their products for them.
Now her company is moving into a direct to consumer model or B2C, while maintaining those existing relationships.
As a result her company is finding that they don’t have a direct relationship or marketing vehicles to reach these customers and need to learn new disciplines like social media.
